How to Download a Google Form (PDF, Responses)

To download a Google Form, open the form in your browser, click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner, choose Print, then save it as a PDF. That saves the form questions as a static file. If you want to download the responses instead, go to the Responses tab and click the Google Sheets icon to export them to a spreadsheet. Updated June 2026.
Google Forms has no single "Download" button - different use cases need different steps. This guide covers every method: saving the form itself as a PDF, exporting responses to Google Sheets or CSV, sharing a copy of the form with another account, and converting a document into a new Google Form.
How to download a Google Form as a PDF
Step 1: Open the form in Google Forms
Sign in to your Google account and go to forms.google.com. Click the form you want to download. You can also reach it from Google Drive if you saved it there.
Step 2: Click the three-dot "More" menu
In the top-right corner of the form editor you will see a vertical three-dot icon labeled "More" (⋮). Click it to open the options menu.
Step 3: Select "Print"
From the dropdown, click "Print." This opens the browser print dialog, which is also how you save any web page as a PDF.
Step 4: Set the destination to "Save as PDF"
In the print settings panel, open the "Destination" or "Printer" dropdown and select "Save as PDF." You can adjust page layout (portrait or landscape) and margins before continuing.
Step 5: Click Save and choose a folder
Click the "Save" button. Your browser will prompt you to choose where to save the file. Pick a folder, give the file a name, and click Save. The PDF will contain all your form questions exactly as they appear to respondents.
Step 6: Confirm the downloaded file
Open the saved PDF to check that all questions, options, and sections look correct. Google Forms renders the form in the same layout respondents see, so the PDF is a faithful snapshot.
How to download Google Form responses
Downloading the form questions as a PDF does not include any responses. To export responses, follow these steps.
Step 1: Open the Responses tab
Inside the form editor, click the "Responses" tab at the top. You will see a summary of all answers collected so far.
Step 2: Export to Google Sheets
Click the green Google Sheets icon (or click the three-dot menu on the Responses tab and choose "Download responses (.csv)"). The Sheets option creates a new spreadsheet linked to the form and updates automatically as new responses come in.
Step 3: Download from Google Sheets
Inside the linked spreadsheet, go to File, then Download, and choose your preferred format - Microsoft Excel (.xlsx), CSV, or PDF. This gives you a portable file with every response row.
How to share a copy of a Google Form with someone else
"Downloading" a form is sometimes a shorthand for sharing it so another person can use or edit it. Google Forms has a built-in feature for this.
Open the form editor, click the three-dot menu, and select "Add collaborators" to give edit access to specific people. To let someone make their own copy, click the three-dot menu and choose "Make a copy" yourself, or share a link with
?template_preview=1 appended so the recipient sees a "Use template" prompt. How to convert a document into a new Google Form
If your goal is to turn an existing Word file, PDF, or Google Doc into a Google Form rather than downloading an existing one, Formswrite handles that in one step. FAQ
How do I download a Google Form as a PDF?
Open the form in Google Forms, click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner, select Print, change the destination to Save as PDF in the print dialog, then click Save. You will get a PDF containing all the form questions.
How do I download Google Form responses?
Go to the Responses tab inside the form editor. Click the green Google Sheets icon to export responses to a linked spreadsheet, or click the three-dot menu on the Responses tab and select Download responses (.csv) for a direct CSV file.
Can I download a Google Form as a Word document?
Google Forms does not have a direct export-to-Word option. The closest workaround is to download the form as a PDF using the Print-to-PDF method, then convert the PDF to Word using an online PDF-to-Word converter.
Is there a way to download Google Forms on a mobile device?
Google Forms does not support the Print-to-PDF download from its mobile app. Use a desktop or laptop browser to save the form as a PDF. You can still view and edit form responses from the mobile app.
Can I edit a Google Form after downloading it as a PDF?
No. A PDF is a static snapshot of the form at the moment you saved it. To make changes, edit the original form in Google Forms, then repeat the Print-to-PDF process to get an updated copy.
How do I share a Google Form so someone else can edit it?
Inside the form editor, click the three-dot menu and select Add collaborators. Enter their email address and they will get editor access. Alternatively, use Make a copy so they get their own independent version.
How do I turn a document into a Google Form?
If you have a Word file, PDF, or Google Doc with questions, you can convert it to a Google Form automatically. Paste the document link into Formswrite at formswrite.com, click Convert, and you get a ready Google Form - no manual retyping needed.
What is the difference between downloading a form and downloading responses?
Downloading the form (as a PDF) saves the questions and layout as a static file but contains no answer data. Downloading responses exports the data submitted by respondents - typically as a Google Sheet or CSV file from the Responses tab.
