There is a built-in Google Forms quiz template: open the template gallery at forms.google.com and pick Blank Quiz, which starts a form with quiz mode already on. That covers the first thirty seconds. The real time savings come from turning your own standard quiz setup into a master copy you reuse all year. Here are both workflows, plus the shortcut that skips templates entirely.

Option 1: The Built-In Blank Quiz Template

Open the template gallery. Go to forms.google.com and expand the template gallery at the top.
Choose Blank Quiz. It creates a form with Make this a quiz already enabled, so answer keys and points are ready on every question you add.
Add questions and answer keys. Build your questions as usual - the quiz settings are the only thing the template pre-fills.

The built-in template saves one settings toggle. Useful, but thin - which is why most teachers build their own.

Option 2: Your Own Reusable Quiz Template

A better template is a form with your standard settings and structure already made, that you copy for every new quiz:

Create one master quiz with the setup you always use. A reliable default: title placeholder, instructions block in the description, 10 multiple choice question slots, and 2 short answer slots.
Set your standard settings once. Quiz mode on, shuffle question order, release grades the way you prefer (our guide to releasing scores in Google Forms covers which mode fits which situation), limit to 1 response, collect emails for graded work.
Name it clearly as the master. Something like "TEMPLATE - do not edit" keeps future-you from typing a real quiz into it.
Copy it for each new quiz. Open the master, click the three-dot menu, choose Make a copy, rename it, and fill in the questions. The copy inherits every setting.
Share it with your team. Add colleagues as collaborators on the master so the whole department starts from the same structure.

Option 3: Skip the Template Entirely

A template still leaves you typing every question. Two faster paths:

Your quiz already exists in a document. If the questions live in a PDF, convert the PDF into a Google Forms quiz - questions, options, and answer key land pre-filled.
